Lets Talk - Dry Skin

I'm back with another skin type blog post, I would of had it up sooner but if you follow me on my social media pages you would have seen that I recently got a new job and just did not have the time to write any post as my days off were spent with my family and boyfriend.
But now that I'm settled i will try my best to have a blog post up once every week.

As everyone should know Skincare is so important, if want good skin you must look after it! It's the most important step before any makeup application if you want to have a flawless base and to make your makeup last all day this plays the biggest role.

This week I'm going to be talking all about DRY SKIN!

Dry skin normally lacks natural oils that help to keep the skin soft and supple which means It has under-active sebaceous glands, if some of you don't know what under active sebaceous glands means it means your skin does not produce another oils to keep it hydrate and therefore leads to dry skin.
Same as every other skin type their are many different factors that play a part in having dry skin such as being hereditary or over cleansing the skin, another main factor of dry skin is living an unhealthy lifestyle.
Dry skin is quiet pale in colour and has a dull appearance. It tightens after washing and often looks flakey. Fine lines may start to appear around the eyes and make the skin look papery.

Caring for your skin

Everyday Morning Skincare
Step 1 - CLEANSE
Cleansing breaks down makeup and removes the top layer of dirt sitting on the skin, use an appropriate cleanser which will leave your skin soft and hydrated

Step 2 - TONE
After your skin is dry from cleansing use an appropriate toner as it will remove the excess cleanser and dirt within the skin that your cleanser did not pick up

Step 3 - MOISTURISER
A must have step for someone with dry skin!! Always moisturise after washing your face as the moisturiser helps to add moisture and hydration back into your skin.

• also less is always more with your skin and especially dry skin, do not over wash your face and use to many products

Everyday Night Time Skincare

Step 1 - CLEANSE
Cleanse as normal, try to find a cleanser that works for you and stick to that one cleanser.

Step 2 - TONE
Tone as normal.

Step 3 - SERUM
A serum will bring dry skin back to life, it will hydrate and brighten the skin leaving a nice healthy glow. Always use one made for dry skin.

Step 4 - MOISTURISE
Same as always never skip this step!

Step 5 - EYE CREAM
If you suffer with dry skin around your eyes then this is something you need to do! The area around your eyes are must more sensitive then the rest of your face as the skin is thinner and must be cared for properly with the proper skincare. So use an appropriate eye cream for dry skin.

Every 3 - 4 day Night Time Skincare

Step 1 - CLEANSE
Once again cleanse as you normally would.
Step 2 - EXFOLIATE
Exfoliate your skin every 3 to 4 days, this will remove any dead skin. Use an exfoliation made for dry skin!

Step 3 - TONE
Tone as normal.

Step 4 - MASK
Use a face mask every 4 days or once a week, using a mask for dry skin will do wonders for your skin, it will add so much hydration and help to get rid of the dryness in your skin.

Step 5 - TONE
After each step you should always tone, it removes the excess product that the water did not get once washing it off.

Step 6 - SERUM
Use the same serum as always.

Step 7 - MOISTURISE
Always make sure you keep your skin moisturise.

Tips
•  If you want to control your skin you must carry out a good skincare routine which should be done morning and night
• Lotions & Creams are best for dry skin
• Moisturise Moisturise Moisturise!
• Always wash hands before cleansing
• Use appropriate products for your skin type
• Wash your face with warm water.
• When drying face with towels after washing pat dry do not rub.

Skincare advice

• Drink plenty of water, im sure all of you would know already that water is the best thing for your skin and your body, but if you did not know water helps to detoxify and remove waste, so if you want good healthy skin make sure you get at least 8 glasses of water a day.

• Make sure you get a least 8 hours of sleep a night because when you are sleeping new cells are formed, waste is removed (which is why you would go straight to the bathroom when you wake up) and then the skin prepares itself for the day ahead.

• Use a foundation or primer with an SPF everyday!!! if not you can just use a sunscreen before your primer or foundation.

• Eat a healthy diet, make sure you get enough nutrients into your body. If you do not have a healthy diet then you cannot expect to have good skin. Eating to much sugar and greasey foods will always cause breakouts, but yes you should always treat yourself every once and while.

** little disclaimer **
I am not a skin expert what so ever but as I did study beauty therapy I have learnt everything about each skin type and I just want to be able to help some of you out and give advice.
However I will say if you really struggle with your skin and your skin is poorly I would definitely recommend going to a dermatologist they will be able to tell you everything about YOUR skin type and what would be the best for YOUR skin , as we are all different in so many ways nobody will have the exact same skin type.
Thanks for reading

Lots of Love
